These games are built to work without accounts, ads or tracking cookies. Here is everything that leaves your phone or computer, and why.
On your own device
Your best scores, settings, streaks and the name you type are saved in your browser (local storage) so the games remember them. They stay on your device. Clearing your browser data removes them. BluePrint saves your neighbourhood (households and houses) and the photos you take in its album the same way, and Hard Knock saves your progress (jobs done, cash, weapons) the same way: only on that device, never on our servers. Loop Lab keeps the song you're making the same way; a shared Loop Lab song travels inside its link (nothing is uploaded), and sound files you add stay on your device. Ward Seven and Hard Knock ask a grown-up check (a division sum) each time they open: the answer is never stored or sent; after three wrong answers the device remembers a 30-second wait.
Couch Chaos daily challenge
Each answer goes to our score server with a random code made on your device, so the server can mark it and keep your streak. No name is sent and there is no daily leaderboard. A day's answers are deleted about two days later.
Leaderboards (Nitro Strip, Cave Glide and Ward Seven)
- If you put a score on a board, we keep the name you chose, the score, and when it was set. Boards are public.
- Your browser also sends a random code, made on your device, so nobody else can post under your name. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it.
- For Nitro Strip, the game sends a record of your button presses in that race, so the server can check the time is real.
- For Cave Glide and Ward Seven, the game sends your score with the run's own numbers (such as distance, kills and time played), so the server can check it adds up. A score only goes on a board if you typed a name.
- Use a nickname rather than your full name if you prefer.
Paper Picks leagues
A league keeps its name, the fixtures the organiser adds, and each player's chosen name and picks. Only people with the league code can see it.
Playing together online
Couch Chaos, Nitro Strip and Paper Poker pass game messages (names, answers, moves) between the devices in a room through our relay server. The relay does not store them; a room disappears when everyone leaves. Paper Poker keeps a table's state while it is in use.
What our servers see
Like any website, our host (Cloudflare) sees your IP address when you visit. It is used to deliver the pages, to block abuse (for example, slowing down someone flooding the servers) and for basic, cookie-free visitor counts that show us which games are played. We do not sell, share or build profiles from any of it.
Children
The games for young children are on their own site, sharpsmart.co.za, which has its own privacy page. Ward Seven is meant for 16+.
Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you can ask us to show or remove anything we hold about you, such as a name on a leaderboard. Tell us the name and the board or league, and we will remove it.
